Lance Stephenson (Aaron Taylor)
Last week we posted the top point guards in the 2009 Class. Here are our picks for the top two-guards in the senior class.
1. Lance Stephenson: Brooklyn, (NY) Lincoln -Undecided
They don’t call Lance “Born Ready” for nothing. The Coney Island native does everything on the basketball court. Stephenson has the talent and the poise to play in the League right now.
2. Kenny Boynton: Plantation (FL) American Heritage -Undecided
The kid is a scoring machine. He can flat out fill it up, Boynton dropped 61 (including 11 for 18 from 3point land) in an outing last November.
3. Xavier Henry: Oklahoma City (OK) Putnam City - Undecided
Henry is as smooth as it gets. He can score from a variety of ways almost as if it was effortless.
4. Dominic Cheek: Jersey City (NJ) St. Anthony’s - Undecided
Cheek has good range on his J and has a knack for creating. The Jersey product is getting looks from major D1 programs.
5. Lamar Patterson: Newark (NJ) St. Benedict’s Prep - Committed to Pittsburgh
At 6′5 220, Patterson is a bully on the offensive end. Coming off averaging 22 points per game last season, Patterson plans on dropping buckets for Coach Dixon and the Panthers.
6. Avery Bradley: Tacoma (WA) Bellarmine Prep - Undecided
Avery, along with Abdul Gaddy, make up one of the most talented backcourts in the nation. Kansas, Arizona, USC, and Washington are on his radar.
7. Jon Hood: Madisonville (KY) Madisonville North Hopkins -Committed to Kentucky
The Kentucky bound Hood can knock down the J and has good size at 6′6. He also doesn’t shy away from competition.
8. Leslie McDonald: Memphis (TN) Briarcrest Christian - Undecided
McDonald is an athletic guard that can play the one or the two. Duke, Georgetown, and Memphis are peaking his interest.
9. Nolan Dennis: North Richland Hills (TX) -Undecided
The Texas product is one of the more versatile players in at his position. With a little work on his shooting range, Dennis could be a problem once he hits the collegiate ranks.
10. Brandon Paul: Gurnee (IL) Warren Township - Committed to Illinois
Solid prospect who does a little bit of everything. Bruce Webber has a solid recruit coming to Champagne.

Lance is an ass!!! Xavier Henry will give him buckets
I think Henry is better than Boynton. He’s got a pro body (pause) already and has a legit position. Boynton don’t know if he wants to be a PG or a SG.
LANCE IS A GOOD ass player . make up ur own ranking and put henry #1 . who cares ???
U dont even believe that crap . henry is good but LANCE is a 5 star GENERAL . HERE’s my RANKING
TOP SHOOTING GUARDS IN BASKETBALL 2DAY
1- KOBE BYRANT
2- LEBRON JAMES
3-LANCE STEPHENSON
4-DWAYNE WADE
5- T MAC
6-CARMELO ANTHONY
7-RICHARD JEFFERSON
8- JOE JOHNSON
9-RAY ALLEN
10-MICHEAL REDD
Dude,
You are smoking rocks. Lance is a great player but I watched him get 40 plus from Jamal Crawford, a dude who isn’t better than anyone on that list. D. Wade would destroy Lance and so would Joe Johnson.
Dude is smokin and aren’t Bron, Melo, and RJ forwards? Lance is tearin up HIGH SCHOOL dudes. Calm the phuck down about him tearin up professionals. It never happens that way
TO: SHUT UP UR JIBS
I was @ that game also and I saw BORN READY not only lead his team 2 victory against a SEATTLE team that featured brandon roy ,nate roberson ,spencer haws , & crawford but he also took the MVP all @ the age of 15 . how dear U mention CRAWFORD in the same sentence as MR LANCE STEPHENSON . The KNICKS should make a trade with LINCOLN HS straight up 4 LANCE . the sad part is crawford would still need 40 shots 2 get 20 points in the psal . will the real debaters stand up these guys r 2 easy 4 me .
ps lay low keep doin what your doin LAY LOW
Brandon Paul is going to CHAMPAIGN.
SStretch,
Did he really lead the team? Was Jamal Crawford really playing D? (Does he ever), and Brandon Roy didn’t play most of the game. If he plays NY loses and you know it. I was at the game and clearly was impressed by Lance. He is a great player and a future pro…BUT, don’t get ahead of yourself. Crawford would light his ass up like a pack of Kools. A dude like Joe Johnson would obliterate Lance. That isn’t taking anything away from his game at all.
Didn’t Kevin Jones give “Born Ready” MASSIVE buckets at Rumble in the Bronx a year or two back…………..?
Lance is good. He’s very good. And yeah, he gave Crawford 28-30 points at Rucker, and yeah he got the best of O.J. Mayo when O.J. was a junior and Lance was a freshman (or something like that), and yeah he’s probably better than Telfair (not Marbury though) coming out of Lincoln. But he’s still a KID. He’s not even 18 yet. And no KID can come in the NBA and be better than some of the guys your talking about. Is Lance better than SOME players in the NBA right now? Yeah probably, but I’m talking about backups and role players. You can’t seriously say Lance is better than ALL-STARS like Joe Johnson, Mike Red, Ray Allen, Melo, etc. When Kobe came into the League from high school, he wasn’t a star right away. Are you saying Lance is better than Kobe at the same age?
Now We have some people I can talk to on the line .
Coldchain : Let me start with a bold statement put LANCE on BOSTON get rid of RONDUE , BOSTON beat the LAKERS 4 2 .
Kobe coming out of highschool was’nt as polished as LANCE . Kobe was only more athletic than LANCE . THAT’S IT .
LANCE has a mid range game that MITE? be second only 2 the great MICHAEL JORDAN . With his size and strength I like him against any of those guys . Plus when KOBE came in the league the league was alot tougher . When people start saying a player is 1 & done u have 2 start making those type compareson . TODAY every top 20 player is 1 & done . I can’t wait 2 see the sad faces. The way LEBRON came in 2 the league and became the second best player I can’t see BORN READY having ANY trouble .
SHIT!!! LEBRON is from OHIO and did it . LANCE is from NYC the mecca of EVERYTHING . IF his CAREER ended 2 day he did more for basketball than JOE JOHNSON will ever do . SHIT I have spell his whole name or u don’t even know who I’m talking about . YES LANCE IS BETTER THAN KOBE @ the SAME AGE . KOBE WAS BEHIND TIM THOMAS COMING OUT OF HS . U can put LANCE @ the top of the list in the last three classes . PEOPLE only talk about the OJ VS LANCE in the 2005 ABCD CAMP but he did all the top guards in that camp that year . HE SHOULD’VE BEEN IN THE 2004 ABCD CAMP . THAT WOULD’VE MADE HIM 12 YRS OLD .
AS 4 THE GUY WHO WANTS 2 BRING UP KEVIN JONES .
KEV JONES WAS A GREAT NYC HS PLAYER . he won 2 state titles both against the MIGHTY LINCOLN RAILSPLITTERS . HE BEAT LANCE THAT GAME , 1 OF HIS RARE LOSSES . BUT PLEASE DONT BRING UP LITTLE KIDS THIS IS GROWN MAN TALK . PUT KEV IN A GAME WITH SOME ELITE PLAYERS AND HE LOOKS LIKE A DEER WITH HEADLIGHTS ON . ALA ELITE 24 @ THE RUCKER .
I’M READY 4 ANYONE WHO WANTS 2 GO @ BORN READY JUST SAY SOMETHING .
THE VOICE OF BORN READY
Coldchain: AS 4 THAT MARBURY COMMENT
DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH : BURY IS WASHED UP , HE SHOULD GET ON THE 1ST PLANE 2 ITALY ASAP . DO NY A FAVOR . DO BASKETBALL A FAVOR .
I DON’T EVEN WANT 2 SEE THAT MATCH-UP . HE’S SUCH A HATER THAT THEY WOULD FIGHT BECAUSE LANCE TOOK OVER HIS SCHOOL . I CAN’T WAIT 4 HIM TO RETIRE HE’S F##KING UP THE GAME WITH HIS 10$ KICKS . HE OPENED THE DOOR 4 CONEY ISLAND KIDS BUT THEN CLOSED IT QUICKLY . HIM AND HIS COUSIN . BUT THAT WONT STOP BORN READY FROM KICKING THE DOOR IN AND CLEANING UP THE MESS . CONEY ISLAND ALREADY FORGOT ABOUT THEM 2 . WERE R THE BURY FANS , I THINK UR ON UR OWN WITH THAT HATER .
THE VOICE OF BORN READY
First of all, I went to a Knicks vs. Jazz game from earlier this year and Steph (healthy) was giving Deron Williams the business. He scored 28 points and the Knicks won. Steph can still ball, and I’d take him over a high school kid any day. Just cause he’s been hurt and has played on bad teams lately don’t forget he was THE MAN as far as Coney Island and New York period for a LONG time.
Second, you sound like a hater getting on Steph for his “cheap” — I’d say “affordable” kicks — what’s wrong with doing something to help out families who can’t pay triple digits for sneakers? Stop hating on the man for doing a good deed.
Third, no one is saying Lance is bad or anything, but you’re giving him too much credit. He’s in high school and you’re saying he’s better than NBA All-Stars. Dude, NBA ALL-STARS! T-Mac would do things to Lance that are illegal in the Midwest states.

What is wrong with you people. I’ve seen Kenny Boynton play. In fact, I played on the same team as him(Blanche Ely High School) and that kid is crazy. Theres no anyone could beat him one on one. The only reason Lance could be better is because hes freaking 30 years old still in high school.
