The biggest honor for an athlete is to be able to play for their country. With the FIBA Americas Championship just around the corner, several prep players from all over the nation have been invited to tryouts for the U18 USA team. Tryouts are being held July 1-3 at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. 25 players have been invited to tryout for 12 roster spots, click here to see the invitees. Davidson’s head coach Bob McKillop will lead the team, while John Thompson III of Georgetown and Anthony Grant of VCU will serve as the top assistants. Highlighting the list of invitees are class of 2008 senior and McDonald’s All-Americans Kemba Walker (Rice/NY) and Sylven Landesberg (Holy Cross/NY). Also invited are Lance Stephenson (Lincoln/NY), Dexter Strickland (St. Patrick’s/NJ), Dominic Cheek (St. Anthony’s), Kenny Boynton (American Heritage/FL), JaMychal Green (St. Jude/AL) and Maalik Wayns (Roman Catholic/PA).
