TaShawn Mabry to visit N.C. State again
Words. Jason Jordan
Rocky Mount (N.C.) forward TaShawn Mabry is nearing the end of his recruitment, and North Carolina State has scored the coveted last official visit.
“He’s going to take an official there (N.C. State) this weekend,” said Mabry’s father Michael. “He’ll decide shortly after that.”
This will be Mabry’s second trip to Raleigh in the last three weeks. He also visited the Wolfpack for their Midnight Madness.
“They treated him like royalty,” said Michael. “It was awesome, but it’s 100 percent up to him where he goes.”
N.C. State will have to contend with Miami, Florida, Virginia Tech, Clemson and Xavier. Still, the timing is perfect for the Pack, and with the campus being a convenient 45-minute drive from his house all signs are positive for N.C. State.
Mabry, rated the No. 46 prospect in the HighSchoolHoop top 50, averaged 26.5 points, nine rebounds, five blocks and three assists last season for the Gryphons.
Mabry Scouting Report
One of the most skilled players in the 2010 class, Mabry hurts you in a variety of different ways: Passing, from the perimeter, in the paint or off the dribble. Mabry also has some of the best timing when it comes to shot blocking that we’ve seen, making people think twice before coming into the lane despite being just 6-6. If his motor can remain constant when he’s playing, it’s scary how good Mabry can be.

i hope he goes to state, i think they will b a great fit for him with r. harrow coming in…and hoping the the Lorenzo Brown still comes after getting his grades right.
They dont have a bad team now, they lost the ego driven b. costner(great for state all around, individually and as a team), B. McCaualley will b missed, they have alot of wings…and bringing in the low post kid howell was a very good look. They dont have alot of size, but tracy smith gets it done.
T. Mabry versitility will really b a great addition, with his underrated athleticism and amazing shot blocking outside of his overrall complete game, if state pushes the ball they will have a chance to win alot of games, but they will b young in a few areas.
Being a Gryphon it would b nice to see this kid play at least 15-20 times every year for the next how ever many years.
They must consistantly do the Triple P’s, Press-Pressure-Push.
There is nothing better to a wing of mabry’s talents is to have a dynamic pg like r. harrow should b. Thats outside of the ever improving Gonzaleze and the other kid number 24( who’s getting better and better) and degand who i think is still there!
It bwould have been nice if they could have signed C.J. Leslie.
CJ Leslie is still considering NC State as well.
He was actually on-hand today at Sammy’s when Ryan Harrow signed and NCSU is in great standing with Leslie. Especially since Roy Williams told him he didn’t have a scholarship for him.
It could be a HUGE class for NC State (and Duke) next year.
