In the closing seconds of the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game at Venice Beach, Calif., last weekend, Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) point guard Quinn Cook came down awkwardly on his right knee.
The freak accident will cost Cook, a senior who is ranked No. 25 in the new HSH national Top 50, three to four months.
“I’ll be back though,” Cook told HSH Tuesday night. MORE >

When listing the top point guards in the 2011 class, it’s hard not to mention Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) star Quinn Cook near the top.
All Cook has done is remain consistent throughout the summer while running DC Assault, win gold with USA Basketball’s under-17 team, and cap off the AAU season with an MVP performance at adidas Nations.
“It’s been fun,” said Cook. “There were things that I felt I could’ve done better, but all in all I was OK with how I did this summer.” MORE >

Although just a junior, Winter Park (Fla.) point guard Austin Rivers is the 2nd-rated prospect in the HSH Top 50. Previously committed to Florida, a few weeks ago he de-committed, and now Duke, North Carolina, Texas and Kansas are giving chase, making his one of the most captivating recruiting stories in the country.
The younger son of Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers and younger brother of Indiana University PG Jeremiah Rivers, Austin has agreed to give HSH exclusive access by chronicling his thoughts in this regular diary where he’ll keep everyone updated on everything from his personal life to his AAU season to his recruiting process: MORE >

When news broke Thursday that North Carolina forwards David Wear and Travis Wear were indeed transferring, message boards across the country ran rampant with speculation and rumors. Everyone wanted to know how Roy Williams and the Tar Heels could cope with just two true post players on the roster next season. Who would they try and snag at the last minute from the 2010 class? Would they scour the JUCO ranks?
One thing is certain: Rumors that Norfolk Christian (Va.) junior James McAdoo — a 6-9 power forward committed to UNC for the 2011 class — would be foregoing his senior year to enroll in Chapel Hill a year early are just that; rumors. MORE >

Second Baptist School (Houston, Texas) point guard L.J. Rose is a rarity. Not just because he’s got a ridiculously quick first step, wicked handles or a dead-eye jump shot.
Rose, a sophomore, is rare because he’s devoid an ego.
He doesn’t mind not starting from Day One when he lands on a college campus in two and a half years. He talks about academics the way most stars talk about a coach’s system. And he doesn’t think staying all four years necessarily means you’re not ready for the NBA. MORE >
