Jared Sullinger swished two clutch free throws with four seconds left in regulation to help Northland (Ohio) knock off No. 1-ranked Findlay Prep (Nev.), 53-52, Thursday night at the Rike Center in Westerville, Ohio.
The game was televised nationally on ESPN, and Sullinger, an Ohio State signee, seized the opportunity to show why he’s rated fourth in the HSH Top 50, dropping 32 points and snatching 17 rebounds. MORE >

Listening to Jared Sullinger, he wasn’t supposed to be the star who shined brightest in the penultimate game at the adidas Nations extravaganza in Dallas this past weekend.
At the three-stripes’ third annual event, where teams of young players from Europe, Canada, Asia, Africa and Latin America were brought in to play against the top rising juniors and seniors in the U.S., Sullinger (Northland H.S., Ohio) led the U.S. Class of 2010 group to a championship-game win over Canada, putting up 22 points and 10 boards. For the 6-foot-9 rising senior power forward, who averaged just under 20 points and 15 rebounds at Northland last season and is committed to Ohio State, it wasn’t the kind of stat line even he expected. But what happened next was something even Teague, a rising junior, couldn’t have anticipated.

Nearly two years ago when Jared Sullinger gave Ohio State head coach Thad Matta a verbal commitment naysayers said that Sullinger would ultimately back out.
Sure he’d grown up in Columbus, Ohio, and had a lifelong admiration for all things Buckeyes, but the quick and early commitments are always looked upon with major skepticism. But not only has Sullinger, a 6-8 forward from Northland High, remained firm with the Buckeyes, he’s also lived up to all of the hype he garnered as a freshman.
